The Big Reveal!
On Canada Day, 2022, members of the community joined us for our RoyalTEA and Paint Party in honour of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. In addition to tea and cookies, a visit with artists, and local entertainment, guests were invited to paint tiles that would be assembled together in mosaic mural, celebrating Timmins and the anniversaries of the Porcupine Art Club and the Queen’s reign. Only a handful of people knew what the scene would look like, and now after five months, the mural will be revealed to the community!

Admission is free, and you can visit as often as you like! For more information about the Museum’s hours, visit their website (http://www.timminsmuseum.ca/), Facebook page, or phone (705) 360-2617.

Our big day is finally here, and we’ve got all sorts of wonderful things in store for you today!
Drop by the clubhouse in Roy Nicholson Park (intersection of Pine Street North and Eighth Avenue) between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to take part in the festivities.

Enjoy some tea (or coffee, or water) and a cookie, and check our various artists’ demonstrations, plus have a look at our gallery in the clubhouse. Best of all, you can be a part of the art – we have 70 mosaic tiles laid our and ready to paint. Pick your tile (they’re small – 6″ X 6″/15 cm X 15cm) and paint it on-site. The tiles will then be put together in a community mural that will be displayed our our 75th Anniversary Exhibit “Honouring the Past” at the Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre in December!
Also, be sure to get a selfie (or several) in our Royal Tea and Art themed portrait cut-outs. PAC Artists John Allerston, Tammy Racicot, and Karina Douglas-Takayesu took great pleasure in painting up the cut-outs for our guests.
Here is a sampling of two them – recognize any familiar figures?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Porcupine Art Club invites you to a Royal Tea Paint Party in celebration of the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II!
The #PlatinumJubilee Canadian celebrations have officially started, and the Porcupine Art Club is planning its own event here in Timmins. It has been made possible by funding received from Canadian Heritage, to honor the occasion.
The Roy Nicholson Clubhouse, on the corner of Pine and Eighth, will be open between 12pm and 4pm on July 1, 2022. Members of the public are invited to drop-in during the afternoon to enjoy art demonstrations and an exhibition of recent work.

Once complete, they will be assembled to form a mural measuring 5 x 3.5 feet. The artwork will be included in the PAC’s upcoming exhibition (Honouring the Past) which is scheduled to take place at the Timmins Museum: NEC later in the year.
