The Platinum Jubilee Canadian celebrations have officially started, and the Porcupine Art Club is planning its own event here in Timmins. It has been made possible by funding received from Canadian Heritage, to honor the occasion.
The Roy Nicholson Clubhouse, on the corner of Pine and Eighth, will be open between 12pm and 4pm on July 1, 2022.
Members of the public are invited to drop-in during the afternoon to enjoy art demonstrations and an exhibition of recent work.
Paint and brushes will be provided to visitors who wish to contribute to the Community Mosaic Mural. In commemoration of the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, seventy canvases (each measuring 6×6 inches) have been prepared with outlines and colour reference. Once complete, they will be assembled to form a mural measuring 5 x 3.5 feet. The artwork will be included in the PAC’s upcoming exhibition (Honouring the Past) which is scheduled to take place at the Timmins Museum: NEC later in the year.
Planning also includes local musicians and members of the Take Two Theatre group, who will provide additional entertainment during the afternoon.
Coffee, tea, and cookies will be served, and all participation is FREE!
