Collagraph Printing Making Demonstration:
This week, some of the artists have been making Collagraph plates for printmaking. Collagraphs are prints made by creating a mixed media collage of textures on a thick paper backing. The collages are then coated front and back with a layer of acrylic or latex paint for protection, and when everything is dry, they are inked up to run through a printing press. Starting a little after 1:00 p.m., those club members will be running their finished plates through the printing press, and you can watch how they are made. The above photograph is of a 4 X 6″ collagraph plate made of string and pine needles; it has not been coated in paint yet.
This year’s Sunday Open Studio season runs weekly from June 24, 2018 to September 30, 2018.
