All works that are being submitted for the June 2015 Exhibit at the Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre must have their titles, media (e.g. watercolour, oil, mixed, etc.), support size (e.g. 11 X 14″ framed; 16 X 20″ canvas), price or insurance value if not for sale submitted to Catherine Cribbs by Thursday April 23rd, 2015 at noon.

P.A.C. Life Member Anna Pickens Passed Away

Anna Pickens, Life Member of the Porcupine Art Club, passed away on Tuesday March 10th, 2015 at the age of 90. A funeral service will be held on Monday March 16th, 2015 at 11:00am.

Call for Entries: Kirkland Lake Contemporary Art Committee 8th Annual Juried Show “Ode to Joy”

Call for Entries: The Kirkland Lake Contemporary Art Committee is seeking entries for Eighth Annual Juried show “Ode to Joy”. The show is juried by digital image (i.e. photograph), and the deadline for submissions is Saturday March 07th, 2015. Successful entrants will be required to deliver their works to the museum in Kirkland Lake by Saturday March 28th, 2015. There are four categories, and a separate student category – please refer to the attached papers for more information.

Themes for June

We will be presenting two shows in June, one in Kirkland lake, and one at the Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre. Both shows will have a theme, as listed below:

Sir Harry Oakes Chateau, Kirkland Lake: “Reflections” (Voted on late last year.)

Timmins Museum: “Brilliant Earth” (Voted on during the February 2015 business meeting). This show will also let the public vote on their favourite piece for the “Gary Bostrom Memorial People’s Choice Award”.

All PAC members in good standing, who have attended at least 3 business meetings (two if you are from out of town) during the 2014/2015 year may enter this show. New members are exempt from the meeting attendance rule. You can submit two pieces per show, and your work should be fairly recent or not exhibited previously.

Thursday Night Workshop: Video Night

Thursday February 05th, 2015 at 7:00pm at the P.A.C. HQ in Roy Nicholson Park. Free for members – $5.00 for guests. 

The Porcupine Art Club’s Thursday Night Workshop this week will be a video night featuring one or several choices of Art Instruction DVD’s at the clubhouse. PAC members can bring along a warm beverage (we do have a kettle on site) and snack for themselves or to share. You may also want to bring along some paper and a pen to take notes.

58th Annual NOAA Juried Exhibit Tour: Timmins Grand Opening

The Timmins Museum National Exhibition Centre is hosting the grand opening of the 58th Annual Northern Ontario Art Association (NOAA) Juried art show travelling exhibit this Wednesday January 07th, 2015 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Come out and see some of the best new works by members of over 15 associated clubs across Northern Ontario!

Congratulations to members Joan Pye (“The Blue Flower” – Charcoal and Pastel) and Donna Howie (“And the Story Begins” – Watercolour & Acrylic on Yupo), whose works were selected for the 58th Annual NOAA Juried Exhibit tour! Donna Howie was also the winner of the Eleonaore Meissner Memorial Award. Penny Logan also sold a painting (“Over the Edge” – Acrylic) during the exhibit.

If you’re not able to make the opening night, you can still view the show throughout the month of January.
