Tonight’s Demo: One-Touch Approach to Painting (Feb. 15, 2018)

Bruce MacKinnon is hosting tonight’s demo, described in his words as

Thursday’s workshop will be brief and it will be better if everyone brought a canvas and used some of my paint or what’s at the club to start a painting. We will prime and sketch and begin putting some colour on a canvas in 90 minutes. It’s a great place to start a new adventure.”

Bring a canvas along. The demo starts at 7:00 p.m. at the clubhouse (intersection of Pine Street North and Eighth Avenue). This demo is free for members and $5.00 for non-members.

Thursday Evening Workshop: Blind Contour Drawing

This week’s demo, on Thursday January 25th, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. will be blind contour drawing with PAC Artist Laura Mancini.

If you are unfamiliar with the technique, it is a form of sketching/drawing done without ever looking down at your hands while you work. You look at the subject and follow its contours with your drawing tool of choice, completing the drawing as one continuous line without lifting your you pen/pencil until the end. It is a good way to train the eye to draw what it sees, rather than what it thinks should be there – the result does not have to be a true representation of the subject.

BlindContourTeaPotMaterials required (bring your own): Sketchpad and drawing instruments of choice (pen, pencil, charcoal, etc.)

Free for club members, $5.00 for non-members. Location: Clubhouse in Roy Nicholson Park (intersection of Pine St. North and Eighth Avenue, Timmins).
